Tom Burns Award for Women in International Business
The Emmy® and BAFTA Award-winning Hoodlum was found in 1999 by Tracey Robertson and Nathan Mayfield.
Hoodlum operates in Brisbane and Los Angeles, developing feature film and television drama projects for the international marketplace.
Hoodlum has a long tradition of out-of-the-box thinking in its approach to storytelling and production financing. This innovative approach, and passion for excellence, has perfectly positioned the company to take advantage of the global shifts underway in how consumers view content.
2018–19 sees a period of significant growth and opportunity for Hoodlum. The company is producing TIDELANDS, an 8-part original television drama series. Financed by Netflix, TIDELANDS is an Australian first, bringing the streaming giant to Australia for its first production. Shot entirely in Brisbane and showcasing the beautiful Stradbroke Island, TIDELANDS’ strong female cast stars Elsa Pataky and Charlotte Best. It will premiere to Netflix audiences in 189 countries in late 2018.
Hoodlum is also preparing production on season two of ABC audience favourite HARROW in 2018. HARROW is a 10-part series with ABC Australia/ABC Studios International. Shot in Brisbane and South East Queensland, HARROW stars Ioan Gruffudd and is ABCSI’s first scripted drama outside of the USA. 2018 has also seen international sales of HARROW to audiences in the UK, France, Spain and South America.
Hoodlum is also recognised for its pioneering work creating multiplatform content for audiences around the globe. Its most recent VR project, Inside Manus, screened at FoST (NY), The Global Health Film Festival (London), the Melbourne International Film Festival and ACMI (Melbourne) and won Best Digital Project at the 2017 Australian Screen Producers Awards.
